ARTIST STATEMENT
‘Rotten Oasis’ highlights contradictions between the urban landscape that society desires and the mechanisms needed for this ‘ideal environment’. The need for electricity, sewerage systems and communication is a powering force; but affluence creates effluence. The work aims to signify this space and contradiction. Through the transparency of Perspex, the silkscreen processes and the way the work is created, the viewer can see every aspect of the work’s construction; everything is declared.
