ARTIST STATEMENT Julie North is a student currently studying fine art at the University of East London.  Working with a variety of media she has recently been developing and combining urban scenes from personal photographs using oil paints and print making by selecting various images, manipulating them and layering them to create depth.

“East London Industriana” is a slide show of printed images.  These formidable and imposing structures have far more impact when projected on a large scale.

These images intend to express the notion that uncared for spaces sporting barbed wire, can still hold a certain beauty amidst the detritus discarded by humanity.
