ARTIST STATEMENT The Baby Doll are born from the dreams and nightmares that are in every persons mind. Although they started out as a representation of Eve as a child, they have now developed into something that is alien to us. It is of all sex and none, and twisted and broken.

Read into it what you will, I have my own meanings for it, just as you will have you own.

ARTIST STATEMENT My name is Karina Vettorel I was born in Brazil in 1979. In 2006 I decided to travel to Italy and in 2007 I moved to London.

My art works are inspired by the nature and landscape that surround me; places that I have been and photos taken during my travels. I find interest in simple things such as old, rusty and decaying objects, like ancient rustic doors.

ARTIST STATEMENT I am intrigued by our perception of reality and illusion. I am intrigued by the paradox of reality and illusion intermingling in our lives. What one may see as reality another as illusion; vice-versa. I am intrigued by the concept of ‘observing’. I am intrigued by the process of an eye looking at an image, the eye sending the message to the brain. I am mostly intrigued by the differences in the interpretations, of different eyes (people). I am intrigued by the aesthetic value of objects or images, the fragmentation or abstraction the human brain can create within reality, the illusions within reality, conjured up by the human brain. I am intrigued by the paradox of figuration and abstraction. I am intrigued more by what isn’t there, rather than what is.
